Dear parents, Dear students, Dear visitors,

As the new Principal of the Josue-Hoffet International French School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the school’s website.

This school, which has been under contract* with the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad) since 1991 and accredited** by the French Ministry of National Education now has 639 students from kindergarten up to graduating class. I share the management of the school with parent representatives.

Since our students’ environment is one of my greatest concerns, I was more than satisfied to see the new buildings at the Hadxaykhao campus and discover the excellent primary school at the Thadeua campus.

The new campus for Junior High and High School students contains innovative computer technology, high quality science labs and a library which is both beautiful and well stocked. Our young athletes can practice in a covered multi-sports complex, football field and semi-Olympic swimming pool.

Conviviality has not been forgotten either, since students also have a large courtyard, a vast and welcoming canteen as well as a lounge for the older students. Parents also have a reception area.

From a purely pedagogic point of view, this school year began well with 323 language diplomas in English, Spanish, French, Lao and Mandarin awarded at the closing ceremony of the International French School Week in the presence of the French Ambassador. Multilingualism is an integral part of our educational programme. This year we have implemented the PARLE programme in the Secondary School alongside the EMILE programme in the Primary School which aims at teaching certain subjects, such as history, geography, technology sports and math in English.

But let us not forget the all-important mastery of the French language with our FLESco classes especially designed to help non-Francophone children integrate the French system.

I look forward to meeting you soon in order to discuss the new National Education reform which is aimed at helping individual students fulfill their potential by developing their specific talents and interests.

I wish you all a very fruitful school year,

Sylvie Le Roy
