Junior High School.

Physical Education and Sport meets the training requirements of the common core by enabling students to build up the five skills which are worked on in continuity throughout the various cycles:

  • Develop motor skills and learn to express oneself using one’s
  • Adopt, through physical exercise and sport, methodology and tools
  • Follow rules, assume roles and responsibility
  • Learn to stay healthy through regular physical exercise
  • Adopt a physical, sporting and artistic culture

To develop these general skills, Physical Education and Sport offers a learning path based on four complementary fields of training:

  • 1) Perform to an optimal level within a given deadline
  • 2) Adapt one’s movements to varied environments
  • 3) Express oneself in front of an audience by artistic and/or acrobatic means
  • 4) Lead and master a collective or individual challenge

Cycle 3 Consolidation Stage : CM1, CM2, 6ème (4th, 5th, 6th grade).

Cycle 3 now includes the final two years of primary school and the first year of junior high school, in an effort to reinforce the pedagogical continuity and learning coherency. A positive evaluation is carried out and certifies the acquisition of skills which have already been developed and worked upon during the year. At the end of cycle 3, all students should have reached the required level of skill in at least one physical activity per learning category. In following on from cycle 2, knowing how to swim remains a priority.

All students have 4 hours of Physical Education and Sport per week.

Cycle 4 Further Learning Stage : 5ème, 4ème et 3ème (7th, 8th, 9th grade).

Throughout cycle 4, students go through major physical and psychological changes which change their perception of self and their social relationships with others. In this respect, Physical Education and Sport helps them to acquire new points of reference for themselves and others, and also in relation to the environment, so as to build up a positive self image whilst respecting differences.

At the end of cycle 4, the validation of the skills focused on during the cycle in each learning category contributes to the attestation of full completion of the common core of knowledge, skills and culture.

All students have 3 hours of Physical Education and Sport per week.
